Joe Leahy, Draft Manager, has been with College City Beverage for longer than two decades.
Joe joined our team as a night loader back when the CCB team was half its current size. He later moved to a Drivers Assistant position, then an Area Route Supervisor role. Joe has been in the draft manager role for three years now.
Asked to explain his job, Joe says he is in charge the repairing and installing of all of CCB’s draft beer systems. This role involves giving quotes, completing new draft line installs, and completing repairs as necessary. Over time, things wear out in a draft line, which affects the system and even the taste of the beer, something Joe is trained to notice.
Joe’s job takes him throughout the entire College City Beverage territory, which means he spends plenty of time on the road. About 75% of Joe’s job is in the field, something he loves.
Over 20 years later, Joe explains why he joined our team, “I had heard what a great company it was to work for and what a great family the Sawyers and Blaisdells are. I liked the idea of working for a small family company; that really turned me on to working here.”
In the two decades since Joe joined the team, he says our great products have stayed the same, and craft beers have gone through the roof. “We have a phenomenal lineup from both AB and from all our craft beer partners,” says Leahy.
So, why stay for 20 years? Joe says, “I absolutely love the company. I love the family I work for and the work that I do. In 21 years I never woke up and said, ‘Dang, I have to go to work.’ To me it doesn’t feel like a job.”
Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his family – a beautiful wife of 29 years, Carol, and their two children, Ashley and Joey.
