Laura is one of our Kings of the Quarter from 2017.  She is our Sales Administrator here at College City Beverage.  When we sat down and talked with her about what that title meant, she hit the nail on the head when she stated, “I wear many hats.  My primary (and favorite) responsibility is monitoring and maintaining pricing and promotions from the Suppliers.”  Laura has a passion for customer service and that shows through in everything she does.
Tell us about your position and how long you’ve been with CCB:
One of the things that Laura enjoys most about her position is that it allows her to regularly interact with a wide variety of people: the customers, the sales and delivery teams, management, and the suppliers.  Her primary duties revolve around getting notices from the suppliers regarding upcoming price changes and promotions which she recaps and submits to management for decision making.  Once approved, she then implements in the computer and disseminates the information to the Sales department and our customers. She is also responsible for setting up new products within the company.  The position requires a high degree of accuracy—one little typo can create a lot of havoc for co-workers and customers alike.
Laura’s story about how long she has worked with CCB has a fun beginning:
“Even though I’ve only been with CCB for 4 years, my first experience with the company was back in 1981,“ Laura starts.  She explained to us that her dad used to own the local Corner Bar in Northfield.  He sold the bar to a family friend, who hired Laura as a bartender/waitress while she attended college.  She remembers Tom Blaisdell and Jim Sawyer would come in for lunch.  They were always a delight to serve and very good to her.  She knew that CCB had a solid reputation in town as a good employer and started watching the local paper for job opportunities—hoping to come work here after she graduated.  She took other positions within the Wholesale/Distribution industry over the years until the path finally led her here.   She’s happy to be at CCB and is hoping to finish out the rest of her career here.
What’s the favorite part of your job?
“My favorite part of this position is working and communicating with our customers.”
What do you find rewarding?
“Doing my job well.  Drawing upon experience gathered in my current job and previous positions to service the customer and company the best way I can is very fulfilling.”
What do you find challenging?
“Sometimes gathering the information that everyone needs can be challenging.  There are a lot of working parts involved.”
Laura, we are so lucky to have you as part of our team and in this role!  Your smile lights up the office and our partners across the country from the phone.  Thank you for all you do!  Keep up the good work!
